2. Integration Management

This session discusses the process required to ensure that the various elements of a project are properly coordinated. An overview of project plan development, project plan execution and change control is presented.

 
3. Scope Management

Project success or failure depends on the quality of the project scope and how clearly it is defined within the organizational context. Focus is on developing a high quality scope statement, cost/benefit analysis, project constraints and alternatives, project objectives, work breakdown structure, project master schedule, work authorization, scope reporting, control systems and project termination.

 
4. Time Management

The success of a project depends on the quality and effective use of time management. The focus is on time control and management. Areas of concentration are work breakdown structure, network models, task analysis, resource time management, project team responsibilities, schedule planning and control using critical path methods.

 
5. Cost Management

Financial planning and cost controls are principal functions of the project manager. This activity covers the entire project life cycle and is an integral part of the project management process. Focus is on financial analysis, cost estimating, forecasting, cost control and cost reporting.

 
6. Quality Management

High quality is paramount for a successful project. Focus is on total quality philosophy, quality assurance, quality control, cost of quality and quality conformance.

 
7. Communications Management

Successful project managers must be able to communicate effectively with the project team, support staff, corporate management and clients. Focus is on communication vehicles, listening and presentation skills, audience definition and identification process, and communication channels and barriers.

 
8. Human Resources Management

This is the discipline of directing and coordinating people throughout the life of the project. It uses administrative, behavioral and organizational knowledge to achieve project success. Focus is on leadership skills, team building, motivation, conflict management, compensation and organizational structure alternatives.

 
9. Risk Management

Project managers recognize the process of project planning, scheduling and controlling. However, risk is more difficult to define and manage in the real world because of uncertainty and the vague use of contingency. Focus is on risk definition, identification, mitigation and deflection, as well as contingency planning.

 
10. Contracts and Procurement Management

Procurement is the process by which goods and services are acquired, usually by contract. Focus is on material source selection, pre-qualification of vendors, contract types, procurement documents, invitation to bid, bid responses and evaluation, contract risk assessment, contract negotiation, contract award and conflict resolution.

 
11. Professional Responsibilities

Ensure individual integrity and professionalism, contributing to the project management knowledge base, enhance individual competence, balance stakeholders’ interests and interact with team and stakeholders in a professional and cooperative manner.
